pretty.

Happy Valentine's Day.

So we took off for Philly at 7:00am, and arrived at 9:00am too early to go get some Cheese-steaks, so we headed for the historic sites. We went to Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Benjamin Franklin's Grave, Betty Ford's House, Edgar Allen Poe's House, and the Museum of Art (aka where Rocky ran up the stairs & the Rocky Statue). We finished all of this around 2:00pm and decided to head for the food! We went to the 2 best known cheese-steak restaurants in Philly, Pat's & Genos. These 2 restaurants are directly across the street from one another, so we decided to get one sandwich from each place. We went to Pat's King of Steaks first, and ordered 'one wit wiz' (this means one steak sandwich with onions and cheese wiz). This was delicious; warm cheesy goodness! Then we went accross the street to Genos ordered one wit provolone. This one was disappointing, too much break not enough meat, and the meat had no flavor. Needless to say we have found our favorite! By the way Pat's had a much larger line outside as well.
After our buffet of steak sandwiches, we took a walk through the Italian Market Place, it was more of an Italian/Mexican Market, but it was fun none the less. Then we found this adorable coffee shop, where I got a home made soda, raspberry & blackberry (I cannot tell you the last time I drank a soda), and Jer got a cappuccino. For the next few hours we just walked all over the place, until about 5:30 when we met up with one of Jer's old friends and his girlfriend; we went to a restaurant/bar that was converted from a church. It was very cute inside, very old. We had a ton of fun, then went on to our dinner, we went to a restaurant called Triumph, who had the most delicious french fries I think I've ever tried. After dinner it was back to the Bolt Bus for our ride home, this is where I saw the building with a giant heart (in spirit of Valentines Day). The both of us passed out before the bus even took off. This was a great trip!

Words of Advice:
If you're going to Philly don't waist your money on an 'unlimited ride day pass' for their SEPTA - mass transit - system
