I will from this day forward make a minimum of one wish per day.
I will believe this wish with all my heart until it comes true.

Today I have a few wishes, some big some small.

1. I will be accepted to Yale as a Masters of Architecture Student for the Fall of 2012

2. I will have an additional $10,000 before the end of the year.

3. I will find the perfect 'vintage dooney and bourke bag' for under $20.

Grad Gift

Graduation gift from my mom.
I've been in the market for a new book/lap top bag for a few months as my 'old trusty' recently gained an unwanted hole. My mom and I strolled into Cole Hann the other day when she was here visiting and came upon this little beauty. :)

Aha Moment.

After months and months of contemplation I have finally decided what I want to focus my blog on.

Architecture/Art/Architecture History/Urbanism/Historic ReDevelopment

I have been stressing myself out thinking about what I want to do with the rest of my life, what grad schools to apply to, when to apply, what to do with the year off, what to do period. After a few long discussions with classmates today I have come to the conclusion that I am completely and utterly infatuated with cities, but not in the ways you may think.
I admire the architect, his precision, his knowledge, his spirit and drive for perfection; I do not want to become an architect. For lack of sleep, self vanity, and the utter lack of conversational skills with all people outside the 'architecture world'.
I admire the city planner, her knowledge of social aspects, the accomplishment that is felt when a project is successful, and her politically driven designs, yet I do not want to become a planner as their is not enough creativity, not enough freedom, and being constrained by lack of work.
I admire the artist, their free spirit, creativity, and lack of care of the popular. However, I do not want to become an artist for the mere fact that I enjoy producing art on my own time and do not find it as enjoyable when producing for others.
I admire the architecture historian for his knowledge, his understanding of design, and his ability to teach others. I would very much like to become an architecture historian and/or historic preservationist. This profession/skill set allows for an individual to weave in and out between architecture, urbanism, planning, art, and history.

My goals are:
  • To research and become more knowledgeable of architecture history and preservation through this blog
  • To improve upon my writing and blogging skills
  • To improve upon my reading and reading comprehension skills
  • To become more involved within the world of architecture and preservation
  • To inform my fellow humans of things that are happening within the world
  • To blog a minimum of 3 times per week
I will not have the ability to blog for the next few days but I will definitely be contemplating what my next/first blog post will be, as well as a name for a new blog which will spawn from this.

TTFN, Ta Ta for now.
